Son of a jazz trumpeter and a brazilian art curator, Amerigo Gazaway is a musician whose work reflects his many different cultural influences. As a youth he studied trumpet, but when he was fourteen, his brother’s love for hip-hop inspired him to build his first computer and begin making beats. What started as an after school hobby, became a passion that evolved over the last decade into a never-ending quest for rhythm. When making music, Amerigo picks his samples diplomatically, indiscriminately combining records from all regions, to create instrumentals that bridge gaps between cultures, revealing their similarities, and uniting them in the groove.
